What Iíve Found in Christ

  1. My Position:
    1. Salvation: “God’s deliverance or rescue of sinners from their lostness, from God’s wrath and from sin.”  Ac 4:12, 16:31, Matt 1:25 Jesus: “the Lord is Salvation”, Rom 1:16, 10:9-10, 13, 2 Tim 1:15, 2:3-4.
    2. Love: “Agape: The word agape was not admired and seldom used in Greek literature prior to Christianity.  It refers to unconditional (is independent of the response to the love or of what the beloved has or hasn’t done) love that is only concerned with giving and not receiving, with the object of one’s love.  This is God’s love for us.” John 3:16, Rom 5:5,8, 35-39.
    3. Forgiveness: “To have our spiritual debts due to violation of God’s laws cancelled.”  Eph 1:7, Col 1:14, 1 John 1:9
    4. Redemption: “The purchase of a slave out of slavery.  God has redeemed us, purchased us out of the slavery of sin through the payment of Jesus Christ’s death.” Col 1:14, Rom 3:24, Tit 2:14
    5. Justification: “A legal term.  To be declared righteous or not guilty-  pardon from the guilt and penalty of sin and receipt of Jesus Christ’s righteousness to our account and thus receiving God’s complete acceptance.  It is a gift from God and is received completely by faith.”  Rom 5:1-2, Ac 13:39
    6. Propitiation: “God’s complete satisfaction with Jesus Christ’s death on the cross to completely pay the penalty of sin.  God’s justice and wrath in condemning sin was fully poured out on Jesus Christ on the cross.” 1 Jn 2:2, 4:10.
    7. Righteousness: “Performing to God’s perfect law and holy character.  Through faith in Christ God imputes (gives) His righteousness to us.” Rom 3:21-22, 4:5-6, 1 Cor 1:30
    8. Holiness: “Through faith in Christ we have become blameless, without spot or blemish in the eyes of God.” Col 1:22
    9. Regeneration (Born Again, New Creation): Through faith in Christ we have been spiritually born from God, going from being spiritually dead to spiritually alive for eternity.” Jn 3:3, 2 Cor 5:17, 1 Jn 5:1
    10. Adoption: “Through being born again, we are adopted into the family of God for eternity.” Jn 1:12, Rom 8:15-16, 1 Jn 3:1
    11. No Condemnation: Condemnation: “Verdict of Guilty and the penalty for guilt.  In Christ, no sin a believer commits: past, present or future, can be held against him, since the penalty was paid by Christ and righteousness was imputed (given) to the believer.  No sin will ever reverse the divine legal decision.”  Rom 8:1, 33-34
    12. Acceptance: “Through faith in Christ, our eternal acceptance and approval from God.  The opposite of condemnation.” Eph 1:6.
    13. Reconciliation: “God changes our relationship with us from alienation and separation to a right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.”  Rom 5:10, 1:20, Col 1:21
    14. Protection: “God’s ability and action to protect us and keep us safe in our salvation and safe from all evil and to keep us drawing closer to Him through faith in Christ.” Col 3:3, Jude 24
    15. Light: “Intellectually, light refers to absolute, Biblical truth; morally, light refers to holiness or purity.  Jesus has brought us into this light through faith in Him.”  John 8:12, 12:46
    16. Peace: “Not a subjective, internal sense of calm and serenity, but an external, objective reality.  God has declared Himself to be at war with every human being because of man’s sinful rebellion against Him and His laws.  But the peace of God in Christ results in God’s war with us ended forever.”  Rom 5:1-2, Jn 14:27
    17. Mercy: “Not getting from God the punishment we deserve for our sins, because of our faith in Jesus Christ.” Eph 2:4-5, Tit 3:4-5, Heb 4:16
    18. Grace: “Undeserved favor, found because of Christ’s death on the cross for our sins.”  Eph 2:8-9
    19. Sanctification: “Because of our faith in Christ, we have been set apart for God’s Holy Purposes”: 1 Cor 1:30, Phil 1:6, Heb 10:10, 14.
    20. Faith: Heb 11:1,6, 12:2
    21. Freedom/Liberty:  “Freedom from sin and the futile attempt to keep the demands of the law as a means of earning righteousness.  The believer is no longer in bondage to the law of God’s condemnation and Satan’s dominion.” Jn 8:36, 2 Cor 3:17
    22. Completeness: “Believers are complete in Christ, both positionally by the imputed (given) perfect righteousness of Christ, and the complete sufficiency of all heavenly resources for spiritual maturity.” Col 2:10, Rom 8:28.
  1. My Hope
    1. Hope: “Firm assurance and expectation.”:  Rom 5:5, 8:28
    2. Eternal Life: 1 Jn 5:11-13, Jn 3:36, 17:3, Rom 6:23
    3. Assurance: “Knowing our eternal destiny and salvation without a shadow of doubt.”  Col 1:13, 1 Jn 5:13, Jn 6:37, 39-40
    4. Heaven: Jn 14:2-3
    5. Our Reign as Saints: Rev 22:5, 2 Tim 2:12, Rom 5:17, 1 Pet 2:9
    6. Glory: Jn 17:22, Rom 8:18
    7. Resurrection: Jn 11:25, 1 Thess 4:16-17
