Statement of Faith

  • WE BELIEVE…in the authority of all sixty-six books of the Bible as the infallible, inerrant Word of God.  The Bible is the ultimate source for knowledge about God, the only source for redemptive truth, and the definitive guide for our daily lives.
  • WE BELIEVE…in the Trinity.  There is one God revealed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Each person of the Trinity is equal with one another and has existed for all eternity in loving relationship with each other.  The triune God is self-existent, unchanging, all-powerful, everywhere-present, all-knowing, holy, righteous, just and loving.  God is spirit and is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth.  We are in reverent awe of His wisdom, glory, and majesty.
  • WE BELIEVE…God directly created the universe from nothing and sovereignly rules over His creation, including both human and angelic beings.  We believe that God is transcendent yet immanently involved with His creation.
  • WE BELIEVE…Jesus Christ was sent by the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and performed miracles.  Jesus Christ will remain both fully God and fully man in His person forever.
  • WE BELIEVE…in Jesus Christ’s bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and second coming for His church and to bring judgment upon the world.
  • WE BELIEVE…that man is a spiritual and physical being.  We are made in the image of God endowed with an invisible, inner likeness to Him.  We are unique among His creation.  Because of the fall of Adam, humanity is born in sin and has suffered loss of fellowship with God.
  • WE BELIEVE…that man is destined to die once and after that to face judgment.
  • WE BELIEVE…in the immortality of the human soul and the bodily resurrection of humanity unto life or unto death.  A literal, eternal heaven for the redeemed and a literal, eternal hell for the lost.
  • WE BELIEVE…Jesus Christ provided salvation by dying physically on the cross in our place, the just for the unjust.  By Christ’s finished work on the cross we have restoration of fellowship with God.
  • WE BELIEVE…that man is saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.  Salvation is completely the free gift of God that cannot be earned or merited by any human effort whatsoever.  Moreover, no person can earn his salvation by taking part in any church sacrament, ceremony, custom, or activity.  Let us be clear here.  While church sacraments such as water baptism and communion are important to Christ and His Church, they do not in anyway have the capacity to save anyone by mechanically performing them.  However, works and deeds performed under the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit are the supernatural outworking of faith in Christ that has been freely given to the Christian by God.  Thus, we are saved unto good works; we do not work for our salvation but from it.
  • WE BELIEVE…that the person of the Holy Spirit imparts new spiritual life and indwells each believer at the moment of salvation.  Throughout our Christian life on earth we experience His infilling, empowering, and gifting for victorious Christian living and ministry.  There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
  • WE BELIEVE…that the church is God’s ordained institution headed by Christ. The church is composed of all believers, and is organized for worship, for fellowship, for the administration of the sacraments, for spiritual growth and support, and for evangelizing the world in grace and truth.
